For the third year in a row, Verizon Wireless donated $10,000 worth of long distance calling cards to benefit wounded U.S. servicemen and women recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The donation is providing hundreds of minutes of talk time for thousands of recovering soldiers during the holiday season and in 2012. This contribution supplements three earlier donations and brings total giving to organizations supporting Walter Reed to $40,000. Happy holidays to our troops.
MomTrends.com posted about HopeLine today.
HopeLine provides women and families with a vital link to emergency or support services by collecting old phones.
Through this program old phones and phone accessories are collected and distributed to participating domestic violence agencies and organizations nationwide. These phones are then provided to victims and survivors as they rebuild their lives to help them feel safer and less isolated by giving them a way to call emergency or support services, employers, family and friends. Phones that cannot be reused are recycled properly, and charitable donations in the form of grants are provided to organizations that help victims of domestic violence.
