How Do You Get Those Awe-Inspiring Pictures of Fireworks? With These Tips From Verizon!
This year, make those Fourth of July pictures truly spectacular. And you don’t need fancy photo apps or filters to get the effect you want. Just follow a few tricks from the pros, tweak your smartphone’s camera settings, do a little pre-show prep, and then grab some epic pictures of fireworks.
Low-light conditions can be challenging to your phone’s camera. Experiment with how your phone handles less-than-ideal lighting conditions, do test shots on some moving lights in the distance, and tweak your phone’s camera settings accordingly. Settings vary by device, of course, but if you have the ability on your smartphone, try these settings:
- Flash: Off
- High Definition: Off
- Focus Mode: Auto
- Exposure: Auto
- Scene mode: Firework
Formore control over the shot, direct your smartphone camera’s autofocus: When you point the camera at your subject, tap the screen where you want the camera to focus, such as the upper right of the screen.
Practice panning fast-moving objects. Are the kids running around looking adorable? Move the phone at the same speed as your subject and click the shutter. If you move the phone at the speed of your subject, you’re bound to catch a clearer pic.
Hold her steady. Keep the phone as steady as possible, especially when trying to capture pictures of fireworks. Set the camera on a picnic table, or on your knee, and tilt the camera up to shoot. Or hold the camera with both hands. Bend your elbows, and squeeze your arms in tight.
