Verizon’s Domestic Violence Summit Proved to be a Day to Connect, Inspire and Heal
Here are what some of the attendees had to say:
“The Summit was a great opportunity to be away from the day-to-day and be with and hear from others in the field … a day to Connect, Inspire and Heal….. WOW – I know it did exactly that for me and then some…” Judith Lynn, Joe Torre Safe at Home
“It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I had so many people come up to me and share personal experiences and tell me how things I said really inspired them. No one can ask for more than that. I did want to share something that several people told me that surprised me a little. They said they werevery glad you picked me as a survivor instead of the stereotypical case. They liked that I was strong, older, educated, etc., because it showed this can happen to anyone…. Thank you again for everything and I hope that Verizon keeps working towards change.” Julie Bush, survivor
“It meant so much to us that we were able to be involved. The conference itself was amazing and so well organized. Thanks to Verizon Wireless for being such tireless advocates, allies and leaders in this work. It makes a real difference.” Sharon Staples, Anti Violence Project.
You can help by donating old wireless phones and accessories to HopeLine from Verizon, a program that helps connect domestic violence survivors to vital resources and funds domestic violence prevention organizations. Through HopeLine, the company recycles and furbishes no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories and provides wireless phones with minutes and text-messaging service to domestic violence survivors.
